Mission Statement

The mission of the West Carolina Youth Sports Organization (hereafter WCYSO) is to develop well rounded young men and women in sportsmanship, scholarship, and service.
 

Membership

Membership in the WCYSO shall be limited to any person who has direct unselfish interest in the organization and shall include coaches, parents and adult volunteers. To participate in the organization, you must meet all requirements of the associations by-laws and the affiliated league and/or association’s constitution. No participant will be denied membership due to financial ability to pay the required fees if the WCYSO is able to incur required fees to give said individuals’ scholarships.

Non-Profit Organization

All officers, directors and members will bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or winning of games is secondary, and that education and the molding of future citizens is of  prime importance. In accordance with Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, the WCYSO shall operate exclusively as a nonprofit organization, providing a supervised program of competitive sporting events. No part of the net proceeds or earnings shall insure to the benefit of any private shareholder or individual.

 

Hidden Curriculum

The WCYSO intends to create future leaders that excel academically, physically, and socially.  Providing coaches and parent advisors with a common goal, the WCYSO has the opportunity to generate youth with the qualities needed to be successful in today’s competitive environment.
